The Bulgarian Motorcycling Federation, together with the promoters Pavel Kashov and Todor Hristov, will organize two completely new championships in the 2024 season – RSH “ATV MX 2024” and RSH “X-CROSS Challenge”. The first round of the new races will be in Ruse, more precisely in the village of Sandrovo, at the “Godzilla MX park Ruse” motorcycle training ground this weekend, June 1 and 2.
The two championships will unite the ATV competitors in Bulgaria, whose number has been increasing in recent years and they have no field to perform. The championship is planned to cover two disciplines, “ATV Motocross” where riders compete on motocross tracks and “X-Cross”- a type of competition with navigation over difficult terrain, competing on an off-track course, but obliged on the second day of the competition to also compete on a motocross track in one heat in front of an audience. Each round of the championships will have races for both disciplines.
Pavel Kashov gave details about the route and the organization for the BFM:
“The Motocross course will be around 1,650 meters long, containing 11 elements including roulette, trapeze, triples between 30 and 40 meters long, turns with two different paths, starting grid, finish, timing, pit lane with live timing information, waiting area. One of the main goals is the development of the children, who will eventually turn out to be competitors at a level – hopefully close to the European level. It all depends mainly on desire and it looks like we have some pretty talented kids, so everything will happen in the best way.”
The race will include all the listed “ATV” classes, but also the most popular motorcycle classes such as MX50, MX65, MX85 and MX1/MX2.
Todor Hristov, one of the doyens in off-road in Bulgaria, who wants to restore the X-Cross in our country, commented that two classes are planned for this year – EXPERT and HOBBY.
“X-CROSS CHALLENGE” will be conducted on a GPS navigation, marked track with markers and lanes on the closed track, and on the closed track the movement is between lanes. There are artificial and natural obstacles in the course, and the goal is to pass them in the shortest time. For the first round, a technical track has been built in the vicinity of “Godzilla MX park Ruse”, on which the competitors will compete in navigation on the first day of the competition.
For this year, 5 rounds are planned in the calendar of the two new championships, the first and the last will be held at “Godzilla MX park”, there will be one race each in Chelopech, Nikopol and Dobrich. Motocross classes are as follows:
